Another day, another record.

After setting a new personal best for dividends in a month ($23.26) yesterday, I set another today as the combined $8.69 I earned from four different companies was a new single-day best (my previous also came this month as I was paid $7.51 on May 2).

I should probably put an asterisk next to this most recent mark as most of it ($7) came via a special dividend from COST, but who cares … I’ll take it. Free money is free money. The only downside I can think of is, because the $7 special dividend was so massive (nearly 1/3 of what I’ve been making in dividends for the last several months), it’ll be a bit before I set anymore monthly or daily dividend records.

It is what it is. You can’t control when companies get the urge to reward shareholders a little more than they normally do, but that’s part of the game. This time, I got lucky. It’s just too bad I didn’t have more than one share of COST in my portfolio.

The rest of the record amount came from Costco’s normal $0.50 dividend, $0.25 for a share of SBUX, $0.16 from C and $0.78 from WSM.

I’ve now been paid a combined $31.95 from 35 different companies this month.
